Find My Device (FMD)

FMD (FindMyDevice) is a FOSS app which allows you to locate, ring, wipe and issue other commands to your Android device when it is lost. It's a great alternative to Google or Samsung's "Find my Device" features, because your location data is end-to-end encrypted, and cannot be used to track you.

Registration

See the Registration page.

You will probably want to request ntfy access, as it's required to send commands to the device from the web interface.

Usage

  1. Downlodad the FMD client and install it on your device
  2. Open the app, and go to Settings -> FMD Server
  3. Enter the server URL: https://fmd.dwagon.cc and press Register
    • FMD ID: Choose an ID to log in with, or leave it empty to generate one
    • Password: <your password>
    • Registration Token: <your token>

App Setup

Make sure to follow all the setup instructions in the app, including granting the requested permissions and disabling battery optimizations.

Consider exploring the app and seeing what else it has to offer.

You might also want to log in to the web interface and test if the application is working as expected by issuing commands from the UI to ring the phone, lock it, have it take photos with front and back cameras, etc.
